Bio

Amanda Karkut is a homemaker and trained chef. After losing her first child Addison three days before her due date to an umbilical cord accident, Amanda felt compelled to help pregnant women become advocates for their own health and the health of their babies. Amanda helped start Project Alive & Kicking and knew that it could make a difference.

A graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, NC, Amanda studied culinary arts where she graduated with honors. She moved to Charleston, SC and started her career in the fast moving culinary world. It was in Charleston where she met her husband Michael Karkut, owner of Graze in Mount Pleasant.

Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking healthy, fresh local food and being involved in the green movement. Born in Montgomery, IL, she is enjoying the South with her husband, their sons Lincoln and Holden, and three dogs, Fancy, Lola and Riley.
