ICP Care

ICP Care

ICP Care is an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit determined to help pregnant mothers who experience Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP) and to deliver healthy babies. ICP Care’s mission is to provide patient support and education, raise public awareness, support the advancement of research and improve health care practices. ICP Care helps to connect, support, educate and empower those affected by ICP.

We do this by raising awareness of the condition, distributing educational materials for patients and medical professionals, and creating a supportive community for friends and families of anyone affected by ICP. We hope that, one day, all medical professionals and staff will know the proper protocol for treating Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy, resulting in less suffering and healthier ICP babies.

Measure The Placenta

Measure The Placenta

Did you know that a small placenta is a risk factor for stillbirth? Standard prenatal ultrasounds typically measure the baby, internal organs and placenta locations – but not placenta size.

We support measurement of the placenta using Estimated Placental Volume (EPV), a standard practice of prenatal care. We aim to help families seeking answers, to supply the medical community with an archive of published research linking small placentas to poor outcomes, to inform doctors, nurses, doulas and ultrasound technicians of the availability of EPV to potentially save lives, and to drive attention and awareness to close the gap in care.

To learn how proactively measuring your baby’s placenta can be an empowering step in your pregnancy journey, please visit Measure The Placenta.

Group B Strep International

Group B Strep International

Approximately 1 in 4 pregnant women carry GBS, the leading cause of sepsis and meningitis in newborns. ACOG Committee Opinion updates and replaces the obstetrical components of the CDC 2010 guidelines. GBS can also infect babies during pregnancy and the first few months of life. Not all babies exposed to GBS become infected, but, for those who do, the results can be devastating. GBS can cause babies to be miscarried, stillborn, born prematurely, become very sick, have lifelong handicaps, or die. Even babies born to moms who test negative can become infected by group B strep.

Fortunately there are many ways to help protect babies from group B strep. Our website contains resources for you to learn more about GBS and help prevent its devastating effects.

We all want to keep children out of harm’s way. Whether you’re a child care professional, a new parent, or anything in-between, it can feel overwhelming to keep track of kids who seem to be attracted to harm like moths to a candle.

Sadly, the most common causes of injuries and death for children younger than 18 are preventable accidents. 1 Eliminating the serious risks from your home will allow you to relax and let your kids roam more freely.

Healthy Tri-County

Healthy Tri-County

Healthy Tri-County (HTC) was officially launched in January 2017 and is powered by Trident United Way and its core partners: MUSC Health and Roper St. Francis Healthcare. The Healthy Tri-County initiative brings nonprofit agencies, businesses and government organizations together to improve health outcomes in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties in South Carolina. Healthy Tri-County’s long-term goal is to improve the health and well-being of every person and community within the Tri-County region. Supporting and monitoring the implementation of the Tri-County Health Improvement Plan is one of Healthy Tri-County’s highest priorities.

Our Health, Our Future: Tri-County Health Improvement Plan 2018-2023, is the first comprehensive health improvement plan in our region. It provides concrete recommendations and action steps for improving health outcomes that can be carried out by a wide range of local organizations and citizens. Beyond addressing the five prioritized health topics, this plan acknowledges two key factors that play a significant role in improving health in our region: social determinants of health and health equity. Social determinants of health are the conditions in places where people live, learn, work and play, and they affect a wide range of health risks and outcomes. Additionally, Healthy Tri-County believes that addressing the needs of communities with the poorest health will improve health outcomes in the entire region.
